INTRODUCTION
The primary mission of the Medical Imaging Sciences program is to educate competent, entry-level medical imaging professionals. Didactic and clinical components focus on the development of students into knowledgeable, caring and ethical imaging professionals. The education and training process is designed to graduate individuals who are qualified in the art and science of Medical Imaging and who can deliver a health care service based upon scientific principles, technical expertise, sound judgment, and responsible professional conduct.

DEPARTMENT GOALS
- provide an education that facilitates the mastery of entry-level professional skills and attributes through diversified didactic, laboratory, and clinical education;
graduate students who will be eligible for professional certification, licensure, and practice;
- provide all students with orientation to a variety of health care environments to maximize their abilities to be effective as entry-level practitioners;
- foster development of critical thinking and problem solving skills through didactic introduction and clinical practice;
- promote awareness of multicultural/diversity issues that influence the administration of effective health care practice for patients, families, and practitioners;
- provide a foundation for the interpretation and use of applied professional research;
- promote a commitment to professional development, community service, life-long learning, and leadership within the profession;
- expand the mechanisms for instructional delivery utilizing various instructional methodologies and information technology to be timely, relevant, and cost effective.
