Why newborns are screened for CMV, with guest Joe Domachowske, MD, on Upstate's The Informed Patient podcast

Trial for CMV vaccine seeks women of childbearing age

Congenital cytomegalovirus can cause hearing loss in newborns, among other problems. Upstate researchers are recruiting women of childbearing age into a study of a vaccine that could prevent congenital CMV. Joe Domachowske, MD, goes over what's important to know about CMV -- a relatively common virus -- and how to participate in his study. Domachowske is a professor of pediatrics, and also of microbiology and immunology, at Upstate, and he specializes in pediatric infectious disease.
