The Upstate Golisano Children‘s Hospital has a Family Advisory Council, which periodically seeks to add new members.

This group meets monthly from September to June. It has recently assisted in creating a new visitation policy for the pediatric cancer clinic, given direction and feedback in the redesign of two areas of the hospital and participated in an educational video that helps train medical residents.

Involving parents and other caregivers on this council is an important way the children‘s hospital maintains its focus on providing family-centered care, says pediatric administrator Jenny Dickinson. Members of the council are at least two years out from their child‘s first visit to Golisano.
