Science is art: a glimpse into the mysteries of regeneration

These are the cellular components of a zebrafish pectoral fin. Green indicates the endoskeleton; red staining shows the epithelial cells; blue marks the nucleus of each cell. Unlike humans, zebrafish can fully regrow limbs (fins) that have been damaged or lost. Understanding how fin development and regeneration happen in the zebrafish may guide regenerative approaches in humans.
