Onondaga Historical Association focuses on pioneering women doctors

Blackwell, the first woman to earn a medical degree in the United States, graduated from Upstate's medical school in 1849. Loguen Fraser, one of the nation‘s first African-American female doctors, graduated in 1876. Walker was an 1855 graduate of the Syracuse Medical College, an eclectic medical school that was open from 1850 to 1857.
This free and open-to-the-public meeting will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the auditorium of the Onondaga Historical Association, 321 Montgomery St., Syracuse, NY 13202. Copies of the book are available at the museum gift shop.
