Ten residents of Syracuse's Pioneer Homes neighborhood completed a Resident Health Advocate program on Wednesday, Nov. 13. This is a leadership program developed by the Health Neighbors Partnership, a collaboration between Upstate and the Syracuse Housing Authority.

The goal of the program is to develop leaders from the community who work to address health and social concerns as determined by the residents of public housing. Leaders at Upstate Medical University such as senior managers, faculty, and clinical providers as well as experts from Vera House and the Syracuse Trauma Response Team trained the residents.

RHA's will begin their community work in January 2014.
