Learn about HPV and cervical cancer at HealthLink seminar

Nurse practitioner Heather Shannon, director of Upstate's Midwifery Program, speaks about the Human Papilloma Virus, HPV, and cervical cancer at a free HealthLink seminar from 6 to 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 30 at the Liverpool Library, 310 Tulip St.

HPV is thought to be responsible for more than 90 percent of cervical cancers, and recent studies show that 60 to 70 percent of cancers of the mouth and throat may be linked to HPV, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
