Preventing school violence subject of HealthLink on Air radio program

Rear view of class raising handsUpstate's weekly talk radio program, HealthLink on Air presents a special show about preventing school violence from 9 to 10 p.m. Sunday evening, Sept. 15 on WRVO Public Media. This episode features some of the speakers from the 5th annual Forensic Psychiatry Conference, held recently at Upstate.

Among the guests are Kevin Antshel, PhD, who will explain research indicating which adolescents are most likely to become violent; Leonard Newman, PhD, who addresses the stigma of mental illness; and pediatrician George Starr, MD, who talks about firearms safety.

In addition, regular guests have tailored their contributions, so you will hear a themed "Check Up from the Neck Up" by psychologist Rich O'Neill, PhD and some selections chosen by Deirdre Neilen, PhD, editor of "The Healing Muse" literary journal.
