With all the finishing times tallied and employment verified, the JP Morgan Chase Corporate Challenge has announced that Upstate placed first in the mixed team division. Comprising that team: Kristy Kmack, from the Vitality program at the Institute for Human Performance; John Kolh, from environmental services;  nurse Cara Lavier from the medical intensive care unit and Chris Loughlin, from information management.

Eighty-four Upstate employees crossed the finish line of the challenge, held in June on Onondaga Lake Parkway near Liverpool. The winning mixed team from Upstate -- along with an all female team from St. Joseph's Hospital Health Center and an all male team from Harris RF Communications -- will be invited to run in the championship in May 2014. The location of the championship will not be revealed until at least November, but it could be any of the 13 cities in which the challenge is held: Boston, Buffalo, Chicago, Frankfurt, Johannesburg, London, New York, Rochester, San Francisco, Shanghai, Singapore, Sydney or Syracuse.

Upstate has fielded winning teams in the past. A women's team won in 2003 and again in 2004.

For this year's race, the combined time for the Upstate mixed team was an hour and 30 minutes, 31 seconds. Here's how it broke down:

Loughlin's time: 22 minutes, 21 seconds

Kolh's time: 22 minutes, 28 seconds

Lavier's time: 22 minutes, 47 seconds

Kmack's time: 22 minutes, 55 seconds
