Employees, students from Upstate competed in Corporate Challenge

groupThis year's J.P. Morgan Corporate Challenge attracted 7,589 participants from 289 companies in the Central New York region Tuesday, June 18. Among the participants were 104 from Upstate, including two of the top 10 fastest women runners -- Cara Lavier, finishing 8th among women, with a time of 22 minutes, 47 seconds; and Kristin Kmack, finishing 9th, with 22 minutes, 55 seconds.

The fastest Upstate runner was Chris Loughlin, with a time of 22 minutes, 21 seconds. He placed 71st and had John Kohl hot on his heels. Kohl finished in 22 minutes, 28 seconds, a few seconds ahead of Kmack.

This was the first Corporate Challenge race at Onondaga Lake Park to be chip-timed, so that runners received an accurate reading of the time it took from crossing the starting line to crossing the finish line, 3.5 miles apart. Upstate runners received the Corporate Challenge t-shirt and also a Team Upstate tech t-shirt. Some of the money raised will benefit the YMCA of Greater Syracuse.
