Medical director of state Office of Mental Health to speak about how families can cope with mental illness
Sederer is the author of eight books, including, most recently, the "Family Guide to Mental Health Care." He is an adjunct professor at the Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health, and he is the medical director of the nation's largest state mental health system. The state Office of Mental Health includes 24 hospitals, 90 clinics, two research institutes and community services, and it serves more than 700,000 people each year with a budget of $3.7 billion. Previously, Sederer was Executive Deputy Commissioner for Mental Hygiene Services in New York City.
