Alcohol policy talk open to public
A "grand rounds" presentation called "Looking Upstream: Alcohol Policy in New York State and Beyond" takes place from 12:15 to 1:15 p.m. Thursday, April 11. It is free and open to the public.
The presentation is by Robert Pezzolesi, the founding director of the New York Center for Alcohol Policy Solutions/New York Alcohol Policy Alliance. He will address why excessive alcohol consumption is a public health problem; historical paradigms of alcohol problem consumption; the current science regarding effective interventions to reduce alcohol problems; and the sociocultural and political barriers to implementation of evidence-based interventions, and strategies for overcoming those barriers.
A live webinar option is also available by registering at www.upstate.edu/cnymph/grandroundsweb.php or contacting Cindy Paikin at [email protected]
This event is sponsored by Upstate's Department of Public Health & Preventive Medicine.
