Register now for the special 30th anniversary retrospective presentation, "From Tarnished to Golden" OASIS presentation from 2 to 4 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 27. This program is free and open to the public, but call to reserve your seat at: 464-6555.

The retrospective will take us from the 1970s Metropolitan Commission on Aging to the present-day Onondaga County Department of Aging and Youth, and will then consider what the future might hold for new generations of Onondaga County elders. You will be treated to a lively conversation with three local "pearls of wisdom" who were instrumental in shaping service to seniors over the last 40 years. These women of vision and action will share the pitfalls, the progress and what tomorrow might bring.

Presenters include Roslyn Bilford, the former executive director of the Metroplitan Commission on Aging from 1975 to 1992; Marilyn Pinksy, New York State president of AARP and the former commissioner for Onondaga County's Department of Aging and Youth from 1993 to 2006; and Lisa Alford, commissioner of the department since 2007. The moderator is Linda Cohen, host of Upstate's HealthLink on Air radio show.

Listen to the radio interview with Lauren Feiglin, executive director of Syracuse's OASIS program, and Marilyn Pinsky, New York State president, AARP.
