Leslie Kohman MD urges you to outline care on National Health Care Decisions Day

Today is National Health Care Decisions Day. Do your loved ones know what you would want if you were no longer able to make decisions on your own? Dr. Leslie Kohman MD, medical director at Upstate Cancer Center at Syracuse's Upstate Medical University, wrote in The Post-Standard encouraging people to "take this opportunity to sit down with your family or loved ones and discuss these issues.

"Everyone can choose a Health Care Proxy and express their attitudes and wishes for their care if they are ever in a situation where they can no longer make their preferences known," she wrote. "It's a wonderful gift you can all give each other."

From 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. today, get more information about a health care proxy at an information table set up on the second floor of University Hospital, outside of the cafeteria.
