Four doctors join expanded pulmonology service
COPD. Asthma. Sleep Apnea. Emphysema. What do all these diseases have in common? More than you might think.
Yes, they all compromise your breathing, or more specifically, the way your lungs are functioning.
Yes, they can affect your level of activity during the day, and the quality of your sleep at night.
But did you know each of these diseases is on the rise in the United States? And that they are treatable and, in some cases, reversible?
That‘s why Upstate‘s Department of Pulmonology has expanded services to patients by adding two additional outpatient offices and four new doctors. Upstate Pulmonary and Sleep Medicine provides diagnostic pulmonary function testing, sleep studies and bronchoscopies to diagnose breathing problems. From there, physicians and staff provide consultations, on-going management and therapeutic services to keep those affected with respiratory, sleep and critical care illnesses breathing easy.
Dr. Robert Lenox, division chief of pulmonary/critical care, says before the new doctors joined the staff, patients waited about a month for appointments. Today, most patients can be seen the same week. "It's much easier to get an appointment to see us than it has been," he promises. For appointments, call 315-492-5804.
