Nurses invited to learn about new palliative care laws
Upstate invites nurses and the general public to learn about new palliative care laws in a Nursing Grand Rounds from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 18. "New Palliative Care Laws: Implications for Practice" takes place in room 103 of Weiskotten Hall. It is designed to help nurses and other health care professionals understand the new public health laws about palliative care and how they can improve the care of the patient and family. The Palliative Care Information Act requires doctors and nurses to offer terminally ill patients counseling on palliative care and end-of-life options, including range of options, prognosis, risks and benefits of the various options, and rights to pain and symptom management.
