Meet baby Henry, the first baby born at Upstate in 2012

Proud parents Julie Castellitto and Joe Fox hold Henry, Upstate's first baby born in 2012.


While much of the rest of Central New York was ringing in the new year, Julie Castellitto was in labor. She and Joe Fox welcomed their son, Henry to the world at 10:34 a.m. New Year's Day. He weighed 7 pounds, 12.2 ounces and was the first baby born at Upstate University Hospital at Community General, in the award-winning Jim and DeDe Walsh Family Birth Center. He went home with his parents Tuesday.

The first baby born in 2012 in Central New York was a boy, born at Oswego Hospital.

Close to 1,000 babies are delivered at Upstate‘s Family Birth Center each year. The center offers new parents a comfortable, relaxing environment complete with 24/7 care complete with neonatologists, nurse practitioners and  lactation consultants are also available to help you learn about breastfeeding. The private labor, delivery and recovery suits include state-of-the-art birthing beds, large Jacuzzi, free Wi-Fi cable television with a DVD/CD player. The rooms also can accommodate an overnight guest.
