New issue of 'Healing Muse' literary journal available

muse11_cover_2ldUpstate's "Healing Muse" literary journal is in its 11th year, featuring poetry, essays and short stories from health care providers and patients. Its editor, Deirdre Neilen, an associate professor of bioethics and humanities, recently spoke about the journal on Health Link on Air radio.

Joining her was author Elijah Dut, a Lost Boy who came to America and became a nurse, and who is studying to become a nurse practitioner at Upstate. His story in the 2010 issue is about choosing between bread to eat, or a pair of jeans that would allow him to attend church. It is entitled "Why I Am So Skinny."

You can purchase copies of the journal through the Center for Bioethics and Humanities.  Copies from previous years are also available.
