Be scary - but safe - this Halloween

Jack o lanternsHalloween is a time for costumes, treats, frights and fun—but also a time when safety must be top of mind for parents and kids. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention provides a list of tried and true guidelines to help ensure a sweet holiday for all.

Some of the popular tips listed include:

-Eat only factory-wrapped treats. Avoid eating homemade treats made by strangers.

-Fasten reflective tape to costumes and bags to help drivers see you.

-Avoid trick-or-treating alone. Walk in groups or with a trusted adult.

-Lower your risk of serious eye injury by not wearing decorative contact lenses.

Minimize the tricks this Halloween and go over the full list of advice from the CDC before the costumes go on.

Have a safe, sweet and fun Halloween!
