Healthy Monday: Volunteer opportunity to spread healthy habits

Drinking milkHere's a way to actively make our community a healthier place: Volunteer through the Syracuse OASIS "Catch Healthy Habits Program."

The program brings together children from kindergarten to 5th grade with adults, age 40 and older, to learn about good eating and physical activity habits.

Training is provided to volunteers who agree to participate in weekly 90-minute sessions, which start at Elmwood and Van Duyn elementary schools the week of Oct. 24, during the Syracuse City School District's Say Yes to Education after school program. Training will be provided Thursday, Oct. 20 at the OASIS Learning Center, 6333 State Route 298 in East Syracuse.
