Summer events raise money for health services at Upstate

This is the start of the Caterpillar Crawl, part of Paige's Butterfly Run held in downtown Syracuse.

A variety of community events in recent months have brought in more than $232,000 for health services at Upstate.

* A golf tournament called Lukie's Holes for Hope, held July 16 at Woodcrest Golf Club between the villages of Manlius and Chittenango, raised more than $27,000. The event is in its 9th year and attracted nearly 150 golfers. Lukie‘s has supported the education program for pediatric patients

and now will support the pediatric infusion area in the new Upstate Cancer Center.

* Paige‘s Butterfly Run set a record this year, its 15th, with more than 2,300 pre-registered runners and walkers for the 5K run and 3K run/walk. The event took place June 4 in Clinton Square, in conjunction with the Taste of Syracuse. Contributions and donations put Paige's Run over $150,000 for this year

in support of pediatric cancer care at Upstate.

* The 17thannual Miracle Motorcycle Ride involved more than 500 motorcycles and 650 participants and raised more than $55,000 in May. Riders left from the Spinning Wheel Restaurant in North Syracuse. Upon return, they enjoyed music and bar-be-que. Proceeds went to the Upstate Golisano Children‘s Hospital and the Pediatric Cancer Center.
