Job Shadow Program

If you're a student or aspiring healthcare professional looking to gain experience and insight into the medical field, you've come to the right place.

Our program offers a unique opportunity to shadow healthcare professionals in a hospital setting, allowing you to observe and learn from experts in various departments. Whether you're considering a career in medicine and want to explore different healthcare specialties, or you are considering Upstate as an option of education or employment our program will provide you with a valuable experience. Join us as we pave the way for the future of medicine!

What Job Shadowing is...

  • Exploring diverse healthcare professions.
  • Delving into your interests.
  • Engaging with experienced practitioners to gain insights into their careers.
  • A limited-time commitment.

What Job Shadowing is not...

  • A path to accrue hours to meet an application or course requirement.
  • A method to fulfill a project.
  • An opportunity to gather patient contact hours.
  • A means to secure a letter of recommendation.

  • We have a limited selection of areas available for job shadow experiences. If you choose to write in an area other than those offered, your application will be declined.
  • Canceled job shadow experiences will not be rescheduled.
  • Allow six to eight weeks for application processing. We cannot guarantee placement but will do our best to find you an experience that matches your interest.
  • *If you have directly connected with an Upstate employee you are interested in shadowing, please fill out the application and list your perspective host’s name in the “area of interest” section.
