SUNY Upstate Medical University is a large academic institution with a medical school and full complement of residency programs. The Upstate University Hospital is a level one trauma center. The institution is located in Syracuse, NY and has a large catchment area in central New York spanning from Pennsylvania to the US/Canada border.
The SUNY Upstate Medical University Department of Urology is comprised of over 20 urologists at 7 sites. While the fellows experience will not occur at most of these sites, reconstructive patients are referred to University Hospital from each of these sites, expanding the fellow’s opportunity.
The fellow will have the opportunity to augment his/her experience at the Syracuse VA Medical Center which has the area’s only VA spinal cord injury unit and a large population of patients in need of reconstructive support due to cancer survivorship and trauma.
