Division of Thoracic Surgery
The Upstate Medical University Division of Thoracic Surgery provides comprehensive thoracic surgical care in an academic, tertiary-care setting in Central New York. Our thoracic surgeons are experts in the surgical management of benign and malignant diseases of the chest including lung and esophageal cancer.
Upstate thoracic surgeons lead the Thoracic Oncology Program SUNY Upstate Medical University to provide patients in Central New York with the most advanced medical and surgical options for lung cancer, esophageal cancer and other cancers that occur in the chest cavity. Based out of the Upstate Cancer Center in Downtown Syracuse, our multidisciplinary group affords patients the opportunity to participate in regional and national clinical trials which insures they are receiving the latest in oncology care. Our accreditation by the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer highlights our team’s dedication to the rigorous standards expected at an academic cancer center.
In addition to cancer care, Upstate thoracic surgeons also provide surgical care for patients with benign diseases of the chest and foregut through our Thoracic Surgery - Surgical Specialties Clinic. Our surgeons work closely with regional pulmonologists and gastroenterologists to provide comprehensive care for patients with benign esophageal disease, pleural disease as well as interstitial lung disease.
