Welcome

SUNY Upstate Medical University Dental is a nationally recognized General Practice Dental Residency Program. Established in 1963, 200 plus residents have received extensive training in general dentistry. The GPR Program trains residents at two facilities; the Upstate Campus as well as at the Syracuse Veterans Dental Clinic. The Upstate program emphasizes the management of all patients, including children and adults with developmental disabilities, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and the medically complex. Time is also spent providing comprehensive dental care to patients under general anesthesia in the operating room. At the VA location residents provide comprehensive dental care including restoration of implants, endodontics, periodontics and prosthodontics.

Mission, Vision and Values Statement

We strive to provide comprehensive and compassionate patient centered care to a diverse community, regardless of race/ethnicity, socioeconomic status, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, and religion. We continue to seek feedback to improve and provide outstanding role modeling as well as exemplary didactic and clinical instruction in an affirming learning environment, free from bias. Residents and faculty are committed to improving the health of the communities we serve through education and patient care.
