Prophylactic Antibiotic Regimens in Tumor Surgery (PARITY): A Multi-Center Randomized
Controlled Study Comparing Alternative Antibiotic Regimens in Patients Undergoing Tumor Resections
with Endoprosthetic Replacements

What is the purpose of the study? (in Layman's terms, please describe the study)

The purpose of this study is to see whether the duration of antibiotics (24 hours vs. 5 days) will alter the rate of infection among patients with primary bone tumors (in the lower extremities) who undergo surgery to remove the tumor and replacement with a tumor prosthesis.
