We understand that you may have questions about the Critical Care Fellowship at Upstate Medical University. For your convenience, we have compiled a list of frequently asked questions and answered them in detail. We encourage you to explore our FAQs below for more information.
What USMLE scores do I need to be considered?
We will no longer consider applicant scores while reviewing applications as USMLE scores are now pass/fail.
How many Letters of Recommendation are required?
At least 3 Letters of Recommendation are required.
Do you accept FMG's?
We accept international medical graduates if they have ECFMG certification and they have successfully completed an ACGME accredited Internal Medicine Residency.
What type of Visa's does your program sponsor?
We sponsor both J-1 and H-1B Visas.
Do you offer any Observership or Externship opportunities at your institution?
Unfortunately, SUNY Upstate does not offer externships. Please refer to Internal Medicine Residency: Observership Policy Overview for the Observership Policy information.
When are interviews scheduled?
Interviews are scheduled from August through October.
When should I contact you to check on the status of my application?
Although we would appreciate the opportunity to converse with you directly regarding your academic accomplishments, it is impossible to speak with individual applicants due to the enormous number of applicants received. We ask that you wait for an email from us, which will happen once a decision has been made on your application.
What is the EMR used at your institution?
SUNY Upstate Medical University utilizes the EPIC EMR system.
How many Fellows do you accept each year?
Our program is always changing and growing, and with that, the number of fellows tends to vary each academic year for both Pulmonary-Critical Care and Critical Care Medicine.
