Career Resources

We encourage our students, alumni, and anyone interested in pursuing a public health career to explore the resources below!

Your Academic Advisor: Each matriculated, active student should have at least one meetign with their advisor each semester. During this meeting, you should discuss career plans and seek advice. If your advisor is not the right person to discuss a specific career path, they can recommend another member of the department, or professional connections elsewhere, for targetted advice regarding specific careers in Public Health.

Linkedin: Connect with the Upstate Public Health LinkedIn page for announcements, and job postings that we share.

Department Members & Faculty: We have a wide-ranging body of expertise represented within the Department of Public Health & Preventive Medicine, with a number of different career paths and areas of expertise. Feel free to reach out to the individuals below:

Public Health Career Explorer

The Public Health Career Explorer career assessment tool was developed at the Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health, with public funding. The tool helps identify users’ career interests, provides insights based on the results, and matches users with active health department job openings. More information about Public Health Career Explorer is available from the Mailman School of Public Health's website.

We encourage anyone interested pursing a career in this wide-ranging field to make use of the freely available Public Health Career Explorer (https://www.publichealthcareers.org/assessment/intro/).
