The following clinical experiences are offered as a part of the Adult Psychiatry training at Upstate Medical University:
Individual Psychotherapy with adults ages 18 and older:
- Weekly individual supervision with Social Worker
- Monthly morbidity and mortality discussions of cases
- Grand Rounds offered weekly on Thursdays 12:30 to 2 PM
Group Psychotherapy:
- Observe and/or participate as co-leader in Compulsive Overeating Group
- Observe and/or participate as co-leader in Dialectical Behavior Therapy Group
- Observe CBT group for persons with Depression or Anxiety
Dialectical Behavior Therapy Program
- Participate in supervision and/or DBT group to learn this theory
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
- Participate in CBT Seminar with Psychiatry Residents
- Observe CBT group which focuses on Depression or Anxiety
Maternal Infant Care Program
- Observe and/or accept supervision regarding patients who are pregnant or post-partum
- Learn about medications used with this population
Eating Disorders Program
- Individual supervision of patients with eating disorders
- Follow patients with this disorder
- Participate in the compulsive overeating group as observer or co-leader
- Learn about medications used with this population
- Learn about team treatment between PCP, Registered Dietician, and therapist.
