UnderGraduate Programs

Undergraduate Programs

Students enter Upstate as college juniors, with an associate’s degree or 60 credits. We offer bachelor’s degrees in Nursing, Clinical Lab Sciences, Medical Imaging, Radiation Therapy and Respiratory Therapy.

Medical Technology

Medical Technologists develop, perform and supervise laboratory testing to diagnose and treat disease and to provide vital data for research studies. Many medical technologists work in hospital or physicians’ office laboratories conducting measurements from simple blood tests to complex analyses for cancer, AIDS, bone marrow abnormalities, therapeutic drug monitoring, infectious disease and molecular diagnoses.  Learn more >>

Medical Biotechnology

Medical Biotechnologists work with a team to conduct medical research in academic or industrial settings. In university laboratories, biotechnologists perform experiments that are part of a research study. In industrial laboratories, biotechnologists help develop and manufacture pharmaceutical drugs or vaccines. Both types of laboratories are involved in research designed to treat or prevent illness. Learn more >>

Medical Imaging Sciences (Radiography)

Imaging professionals use a variety of technologies and computer applications to help physicians diagnose and treat disease. They specialize in radiography (X-ray), computed tomography (CT), and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Learn more >>

Medical Imaging Sciences (Ultrasound)

An Ultrasound Technologist (also called a Sonographer) is a specially trained medical imager who uses sound waves to create images of organs and tissues within the body. The Ultrasound Technologists performs a preliminary examination of the patient and creates images for the Radiologist to examine. Learn more >>

Radiation Therapy

Radiation Therapists use targeted doses of radiation beams to destroy cancerous tumors without permanently damaging nearby normal tissues. The radiation therapist is directly responsible for the daily treatment of patients for up to seven weeks. Learn more >>

Respiratory Therapy

Respiratory Therapists treat patients who have difficulty breathing because of illness or injury (heart failure, chest trauma, asthma, emphysema, cystic fibrosis, etc.) During the 21-month program, students spend 1,040 clinical hours in a variety of settings. Learn more >>

Nursing

Nursing students come to Upstate as RNs, and work toward a bachelor’s degree. Studies show advanced education for nurses results in better patient care. Nurses rely on critical thinking, medical knowledge, clinical skills, compassion and empathy. Learn more >>
