These health care facilities form the core of the clinical activities of the Department of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation.

University Hospital
University Hospital, the base of the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, is a major tertiary care center and regional referral center that serves the 15-county Central New York region. The rehabilitation program operates a 33-bed inpatient unit in a 30,000 sq. foot state-of-the-art rehabilitation center with a full array of exercise, therapeutic, electrodiagnostic, and urodynamic equipment.

Syracuse VA Medical Center
At this 154-bed facility adjacent to university hospital, we operate an 18-bed Inpatient General Medical Rehabilitation Unit, outpatient rehabilitation, prosthetic, hand and back/spine clinics. Residents obtain valuable direct evaluation and treatment experience through these programs.

Centers at St. Camillus
Our department operates a 20-bed Brain Injury Unit and 40-bed Subacute Rehabilitation Unit at this center which is a private, not-for-profit facility located approximately ten minutes from University Hospital. Residents participate in both acute inpatient and team management experiences and obtain longitudinal experience through the outpatient program services.

Upstate Bone and Joint Center
Upstate Bone and Joint Center is the most comprehensive Center for Orthopedic medicine in our region, bringing patients from 14 surrounding counties. Sixteen orthopedic surgeons specialize in all areas of orthopedics, with a staff of 80-plus. Services at the center include the sub-specialty practice, Upstate Orthopedics, Upstate Orthopedics Ambulatory Surgery Center, Physical Therapy, X-ray, MRI and CT, Pain Management, and Orthotics and Prosthetics.

Institute for Human Performance and Rehabilitation
One of the goals of our residency program is to provide a balance between the inpatient and outpatient experience. The training of our residents is enhanced by our model physical plants, which include the $60 million Institute for Human Performance and Rehabilitation, a world-class research, training and treatment facility.
