The Pediatric Department training program is centered at Upstate Golisano Children's Hospital, the Nappi Wellness Center—our outpatient facility, and the Neonatology Unit at Crouse Hospital—a private hospital affiliated with the College of Medicine. The facilities are located at the periphery of downtown Syracuse, a few blocks from the large campus of Syracuse University, which sits on a hill overlooking the downtown. The Department of Pediatrics at Upstate serves a population of almost 2 million people in Central New York and we provide the only pediatric subspecialty services to children from the Canadian border to Pennsylvania.

Upstate Golisano Children's Hospital

Upstate Golisano Children’s Hospital opened in 2009, with the mission to provide safe, effective, innovative and family centered care for children in the Central New York region. Today we serve children and families across 17 counties and treat over 100,000 pediatric encounters per year.

The ambulatory pediatrics program is based at the new Nappi Center. It is the new home of the University Pediatric and Adolescent Center. Here, patients are treated by the residents under the supervision of the faculty. Most of the pediatric faculty see their private patients in offices in the clinic area. There are more than 25,000 outpatients visit per year to the Pediatric and Adolescent Center, including the residents' Continuity Program which allows residents to follow their own patients for three years. An additional 14,000 patients per year are seen in the 20 subspecialty clinics where pediatric patients with a broad range of problems are evaluated and treated. In addition to the full-time pediatric faculty, there are many affiliated faculty in areas including pediatric surgery, surgical subspecialties, radiology, and psychiatry.  The Nappi Center also offers a wide variety of additional services, including a lab draw station, radiology, and an outpatient pharmacy.
