Learning to Lead for Nurse Manager Succession
This program is designed for those nurses (RNs) who are interested in becoming a Nurse Manager as it will teach the keys to success as a supervisor/manager as well as the many fundamentals of managing a team. In addition, this program includes three (3) required, nursing specific classes.
Those completing this program may mark it as such on their future internal application for Nurse Manager opportunities. While not a guarantee for promotion, it is listed as a preferred qualification.
To receive the official SUNY-recognized micro credential, the following requirements must be met within eighteen (18) months of submitting Intent to Complete documentation.
Requirements Overview:
- Attendance at 100% of required synchronous and asynchronous virtual and in-person sessions
- Complete 100% of online education and programmatic requirements (assessments, surveys, etc.)
- Some courses in this track have a cost associated with the required assessment (between $525-$610)
- Completion of Mentorship requirement - either formal Mentoring Program (preferred) or Building Your Mentoring Network class
- Submission of final, reflective progress paper

How Do I Apply to Begin this Micro credential Track?

This is a self-directed program. Please see class offerings and register for them in self-serve.
How Do I Complete the Micro credential?
To earn a Micro credential, you are required to complete the following:
- Pre-Assessment
- The pre-assessment is delivered via email when you submit the Intent to Complete form to enroll in the Micro credential. It is a SurveyMonkey link.
- Required Classes (See above)
- Once you have completed the required classes, please send an email to MaryAnn Stark at [email protected] Your message will let us know that you are ready to receive the final assignments to complete the micro credential.
- Please note: We will accept classes you may have already taken within 1 year from receipt of the Intent to Complete form.
- Post-Assessment
- The post-assessment mirrors the pre-assessment and is delivered via email once you have completed all the required classes. Your responses provide us with data on your progress and the effectiveness of the program.
- Final Reflection
- The Final Reflection consists of four questions designed to generate an overall analysis of the learning and skills you have gained through this program and how you plan to apply it going forward. We expect responses to be your original thoughts with an organized framework (introduction, body, conclusion).
- Program Evaluation
- This program evaluation provides Nursing with constructive feedback on all aspects of the Micro credential program.
