IR SUITE OPENS: The new Interventional Radiology suite at Upstate Community Hospital opens with great fanfare. Located in Room 1330, the suite features a spacious procedure room, control room and an IR recovery area with patient pre-and post-holding bays and a fully integrated patient monitoring system. 

HEALTHY CHILDREN, HAPPY CHILDREN: Gaming and Technology Specialist Brad Taylor, right, a member of the Upstate Golisano Children’s Hospital Child Life team, oversees a video game break with patients. COOKING IN THE TEST KITCHEN: Kaushal Nanavati, MD, leads a seminar on Cooking for a Health Colon in the Teach Kitchen at the Nappi Wellness Institute. Nanavati, assistant dean of wellness and director of integrative medicine, joined other Upstate colleagues in providing cooking demonstration for participants. The event was sponsored by Upstate’s We Matter and the Upstate Cancer Center.

Upstate Golisano Children’s Hospital Child Life members receive a book drop off from the Cicero North Syracuse High School Student Government that were collected for the Paige’s Butterfly Run book drive. The books will be distributed to patients at the children’s hospital.

COMMUNITY GETS RECHARGE: Upstate University Hospital officials open a recharge room at Upstate Community Hospital Community—a dedicated space for our incredible employees to rest, refresh, and rejuvenate. Equipped with calming music, aromatherapy and cozy seating, this space is designed to promote relaxation and well-being.

MISSION CONTROL: Chief Nursing Officer Scott Jessie speaks at the opening of Upstate’s new Throughput Operations Center. The center is chock-full of technology with 22 live feed monitors and 28 computer stations offering hospital officials a real-time view of operations in all areas of the health system.

SENATOR SPEAKS: U.S. Sen. Kristen Gillibrand speaks about the importance of NIH funding to Upstate Medical University and scientific research throughout the state at a press conference held Feb. 14 at the CNY Biotechnology Accelerator. Gillibrand was joined by officials from Upstate, SUNY and state lawmakers from throughout Central New York.
