Upstate physician to serve on key AMA panel reviewing codes healthcare providers use for billing and other issues

Upstate Medical University oncologist Rahul Seth, DO, assistant professor of medicine, has been appointed to the American Medical Association (AMA) CPT Editorial Panel. He will serve a four-year term on the panel.

As a CPT Editorial Panel member, Seth will review and present code change applications that come before the panel, which ultimately impact physicians’ reimbursement for the services they provide. He will also participate in workgroups, educational opportunities, and quality initiatives within the purview of the CPT Editorial Panel. His expertise as an oncologist and as a physician will provide valuable specialized expertise and broad professional views within his role.

The 21-member CPT Editorial Panel meets three times a year to solicit the direct input of practicing physicians, medical device manufacturers, developers of the latest diagnostic tests and advisors from more than 100 societies representing physicians and other qualified health care professionals.

At Upstate, Seth also serves as medical director of hematology/oncology at the Upstate Cancer Center in Oswego.

Seth was named a fellow of American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) in 2022, in recognition of his efforts and participation as a long-time volunteer.
