Upstate Foundation's two-day Radiothon for Kids raises $221,906

The Upstate Foundation’s Radiothon for Kids raised $221,906 in two days of fundraising, thanks to hundreds of community donations. The radiothon was held Feb. 11 and 12. Nearly 1,400 donors contributed to the Radiothon.

"We are deeply grateful for the incredible generosity shown by our Central New York community during this year’s Radiothon for Kids. We raised $221,906 in just two days, all of which will directly support children and families in need at Upstate Golisano Children’s Hospital. This outpouring of support ensures that our most vulnerable patients have the resources they need—whether it’s meals, transportation, or access to critical technology,” said Danielle Bright of the Upstate Foundation.

Bright added, “The Upstate Foundation extends a heartfelt thank you to everyone who contributed, especially iHeart Media and CNY Central, as well as to our sponsors led by PTM Solar, partners, and volunteers who made this event a success. Together, we are making a difference in the lives of these children and their families."

The Radiothon transformed the lobby of Upstate University Hospital into a TV and radio studio with help of media sponsors Newsradio 570WSYR, Y94  and CNY Central. Among those featured on air during the radiothon were Upstate President Mantosh Dewan, MD; Pediatrics Chief Gregory Conners, MD, MBA; and Child Life Director Regina Lozito, among others. Parents, too, shared their personal stories of having their kids treated at Upstate Golisano Children’s Hospital and commended the medical team and others for their outstanding care and support.

Funds raised this year will be used primarily for unmet needs like meals and gas cards for families with hospitalized children, car seats when needed, and items for the Upstate Golisano Children’s Hospital Child Life Program—iPads, Chrome books, kiddie transport vehicles.

Since Radiothon began in 2003, the event has raised more than $2 million for Upstate Golisano Children’s Hospital.

Volunteers working the phone bank came from all corners of campus.

The Upstate Foundation partnered with iHeart Media and CNY Central for this annual fundraiser.

Platinum sponsor of the Radiothon was PTM Solar. Host and sponsor of the event was the Upstate Foundation. Day sponsors were Stewart Shops, Vlawsity, West Herr Chevrolet. Also service as sponsors were Carrols Corporation, CPS Recruitment, Diana's Jewelers, Drivers Village, FamilyCare Medical Group, Great Lakes Honda City, HealtheConnections, Hidden Level, Markert USA, Mirabito Energy Products, Mooney Marketing Group, National Carpet and Flooring, NBT Bank, Peppino’s, Profiles by Kristin, SKS Orthodontics, Tops Friendly Markets Upstate Medical University – Office of the President, Upstate University Hospital – Department of Pediatrics, YMCA of Central New York, Dr. Vincent Campanino and Dr. Maried Figueroa-Gely Family Dentistry, Robert Corona, DO, and Mark and Phyllis Zames.
