Orthopedic surgeon joins Upstate
Ryan Cox, MD, has been named assistant professor of orthopedic surgery at Upstate Medical University.
Cox previously served as shoulder and elbow fellow at Rothman Orthopaedic Institute at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia. Cox completed his orthopedic surgery residency at Rothman Orthopaedic Institute after receiving his medical degree from Drexel University College of Medicine in 2018. He earned his undergraduate degree from John Carroll University in Ohio.
Cox specializes in evaluation and surgical and non-surgical treatments for shoulder and elbow injuries and conditions, such as fractures, dislocations, tendinitis, osteoarthritis, osteochondritis, frozen shoulder, and rotator cuff injuries.
He is experienced with total- and reverse total shoulder arthroplasty and is skilled in both open and arthroscopic surgical techniques. He has made numerous contributions to shoulder and orthopedic research including techniques in shoulder reconstruction, treatment strategies, and infection management.
Cox will see patients at the Upstate Bone & Joint Center in East Syracuse. He is affiliated with the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons.
