Trauma surgeon joins Upstate
Trauma surgeon Anna Wu, MD, has been appointed assistant professor of surgery at Upstate Medical University.
Wu previously served on the faculty of Albany Medical Center with the Division of Trauma and Critical Care Surgery at Albany Medical Center.
Wu completed a fellowship in surgical critical care at the University of Rochester and a residency in general surgery at Albany Medical Center. She earned her medical degree from Albany Medical College and an undergraduate degree from Oberlin College.
Her research interests include the use of evidence-based imaging to reduce radiation exposure in children, which was published in the journal Trauma last year and surgical ergonomics in residency programs
Upstate is the only Level 1 Adult and Pediatric Trauma program in Central New York. It received its re-verification from the American College of Surgeons of its trauma services earlier this year. Level 1 trauma centers are required to offer 24-hour availability of care from trauma surgeons and complimentary staff. Also, hallmarks of trauma centers are community trauma prevention programs.
