Marylin Galimi named to Becker’s list of 60 academic medical center COOs to know
Upstate University Hospital Chief Operating Officer Marylin Galimi has been named to the 2024 list of 60 academic medical center COOs to know.
The list appears online at Becker’s Hospital Review.
According to Becker’s, COOs academic medical center COOs are committed to “streamlining operations to offer excellent patient care using research and innovation. The COOs heading academic medical centers and health systems across the nation are tasked with leading operations, expanding service lines, allocating resources and more.”
Becker’s Hospital Review is a monthly publication for the health care industry providing information on business and legal news related to hospitals and health systems.
Galimi joined Upstate in 2016 as associate administrator for Hospital Planning and soon after was promoted the assistant vice president of Facility and Planning. Galimi has more than 25 years of experience in the design operations field, and over 15 years of progressive health systems administration experience. She was named chief operating officer of Upstate University Hospital in 2021.
Galimi holds a master’s degree of science from the Rochester Institute of Technology and a certificate of specialized education and training from Cornell University’s Johnson Graduate School of Management and Syracuse University’s Whitman School. She also has earned the DNV Advanced Healthcare Operations Professional Certification.
Galimi is responsible for supporting Upstate’s strategic objectives through operational oversight and optimization of Upstate’s facilities, services and support functions. Galimi’s primary focus is identifying and deploying the most efficient and cost-effective use of resources recognizing the critical need for a high level of operational and clinical integration. Additionally, she serves as the primary advisor to the organization’s senior management team on matters related to designated operations.
