Upstate to hold nursing open houses July 30 and Aug. 6

Nursing positions are available at Upstate

Calling all Registered Nurses! Upstate University Hospital will hold two hiring events for registered nurses to fill positions in key nursing units nursing—from the Emergency Room to new med/surg and inpatient psychiatry units, opening fall 2019.

Open houses will be held at the hospital’s Downtown Campus, 750 E. Adams St., Syracuse, on Tuesday, July 30 from 2 to 5 p.m., and at its Community Campus, 4900 Broad Road, Syracuse, Tuesday, Aug. 6 from 2 to 5 p.m.

Increased volumes at the hospital are among the reasons Upstate is hiring additional nurses.

Positions are open at both campuses.

Rebecca Milczarski, Director of Nursing Recruitment and Retention, said Upstate is looking for both experienced nurses and new graduate nurses.

The open house will include on-the-spot job interviews, access to recruiters for benefit questions, and tours of the hospital. Parking is free for candidates in the garage at each campus.

“Upstate provides nurses with an excellent opportunity to start or continue their careers. We have nurse to patient ratios that allow you to provide the most comprehensive care possible to your patients, and we are the region’s only academic medical center,” said Milczarski.

Among the attractive benefits for nurses, Milczarski said that Upstate Nursing has the most competitive tuition reimbursement package for someone planning to continue on to a bachelor’s or master’s degree. In addition, nurses are eligible for the generous health benefits and New York State retirement options that Upstate has to offer.

Upstate is the area’s largest employer of nurses with about 2,200 currently working at Upstate.
