Employee Recognition Day celebrates 1,129 employees for service anniversaries
Upstate Medical University, the region’s largest employer, will honor 1,129 employees, including two who have reached their 55- and 50-year milestones of service, at the university’s 2019 Employee Recognition Day (ERD) event Thursday, June, 27 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Nicholas J. Pirro Convention Center at Oncenter Complex, 800 S. State St., Syracuse.
The event honors employees who have reached a 5-year service milestone as of June 30, 2018. Included among the honorees are Zahi Makhuli, professor of urology, who celebrates 55 years of service, and Joanne Davis of Information Management and Technology, who celebrates 50 years of service.
Event presenters include ERD Committee Co-chair Catherine Cadley, Interim President Mantosh Dewan, MD, and Upstate University Hospital Chief Executive Officer Robert Corona DO, MBA. Serving as co-chair with Cadley is Gwynne Conway.
Upstate has been celebrating employee service anniversaries for more than three decades. “Employee Recognition Day is an important date on the Upstate calendar,” said Interim President Mantosh Dewan, MD. “It provides us with an opportunity to celebrate our employees for their outstanding work and to show our appreciation for their dedication and service to the Upstate mission of patient care, research, teaching and community service. They are what makes Upstate a special place.”
Free shuttles will run continuously from Upstate University Hospital’s Downtown Campus traffic circle to the Oncenter from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Shuttles will leave the Community Campus at 10:35 a.m., boarding at the front circle. The return shuttle will leave the OnCenter at 1:15 p.m.
