Community Campus visitor pass program begins April 5
SYRACUSE, N.Y.-- The Upstate University Hospital Community Campus will implement a visitor pass program April 5 that will require all visitors to present identification, preferably a photo ID, such as a driver’s license, to enter the hospital. The Community Campus is located at 4900 Broad Road, Syracuse.
All Upstate employees will be required to wear their Upstate ID badge to enter the facility at all times during the day.
“The visitor pass program on the Community Campus mirrors the one in place at the Downtown Campus,” said Nancy Daoust, chief administrative officer for the Community Campus. “We appreciate everyone’s understanding with the process as it adds additional security for our patients, families and staff.”
The preferred entry for visitors and employees to the hospital is through what officials now call the East Entrance. This is currently the patient admitting and testing entrance. It is the entrance located closest to the parking garage. The entrance features a lobby, comfortable seating and a large registration desk, where visitors will present their identification and receive a visitor pass.
Visitor passes will be good only for the date issued. The pass will indicate the visitor’s destination within the hospital.
The East Entrance is open 24 hours. Registration and Ambassador services are available at this entrance from 5:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.; volunteer assistance will be available from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.; and public safety officers are on duty at this entrance 24 hours.
Registration and Ambassador services also will be available at the Main Entrance (gift shop location) from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., with volunteer assistance available from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Public Safety officers will also be able to assist at this entrance.
