Leszek Kotula, MD, PhD, assistant professor of Urology and Biochemistry/Molecular Biology, discussed President Obama's Cancer Moonshot initiative, led by Vice President Joe Biden, today with WAER 88.3 reporter Christian Unkenholz. Cancer Moonshot aims to unite efforts and accelerate cancer advancements in the United States. Combining public education and outreach with an increase in funding for focused research, Dr. Kotula believes this initiative will revitalize patient participation in clinical trials and increase collaboration between cancer research experts. Dr. Kotula said he believes we will see, "a significant decrease in mortality from cancer with a significant increase in the quality of life for those diagnosed within the next decade or two."
