Thomas K. Swoboda, MD, joins Binghamton Campus as associate dean for academic affairs

BINGHAMTON, N.Y.-- Thomas K. Swoboda, MD, has been named associate dean for academic affairs at the Binghamton Campus, effective July 1. The appointment was announced by Rajesh J. Dave, MD, MBA, dean of the Binghamton Campus.

Swoboda succeeds Michael Bogdasarian, MD, who has served as interim associate dean since June 2013.

“We are glad to welcome Dr. Swoboda to the Binghamton Campus and Upstate Medical University,” said Dave. “He brings a passion for strengthening and advancing our medical education program at the Binghamton Campus.”

Swoboda earned his medical degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine in 1994. He holds a master’s degree in biology from Brown University and a bachelor’s degree in engineering from Dartmouth College. He completed his residency in emergency medicine at Lincoln Medical and Mental Health Center in Bronx, N.Y.

For the last ten years he has held the positions of assistant and clinical associate professor of emergency medicine at the Louisiana State University (LSU) Health Sciences Center in Shreveport, La. While at LSU Health Sciences Center, he served as associate residency director and is currently the residency program director for emergency medicine.

He previously served as assistant professor of emergency medicine at the Medical College of Wisconsin.

Swoboda is a member of the American Academy of Emergency Physicians, the American College of Emergency Physicians, the Society of Academic Emergency Medicine, the Council of Emergency Medicine Residency Directors, and the International Association of Medical Student Educators.
