Upstate honors eight faculty with Gold Standard awards
SYRACUSE, N.Y. Upstate Medical University has acknowledged the outstanding work of eight faculty members with its Gold Standard Award. The award recognizes individuals who consistently show passion, vision and commitment in their research, clinical service and teaching, while promoting the university's values of driving innovation and discovery, respecting people, serving the community and valuing diversity.

Barbara Krenzer, M.D., professor of medicine, College of Medicine (Manlius);
James Megna, M.D., Ph.D., associate professor of psychiatry and behavioral sciences, College of Medicine (Syracuse);
Bettina Smallman, M.D., associate professor of anesthesiology, College of Medicine (Phoenix);
