Upstate students, staff gather to shine light on the deadliest cancer, lung cancer. Vigil will include reflections from people whose lives have been touch by cancer. More people die of lung cancer than breast, prostate, colon, liver, kidney and melanoma cancers combined.

The American College of Surgeons National Surgical Quality Improvement Program (NSQIP) has recognized Upstate University Hospital as one of 26 NSQIP participating hospitals in the United States to achieve exemplary outcomes for surgical patient care.

Delos Cosgrove, M.D., chief executive officer of the Cleveland Clinic, will discuss innovations in healthcare delivery during a public lecture Oct. 20 at 8 a.m. at Upstate Medical University. Cosgrove presentation is the inaugural Frederick B. Parker Jr., M.D., Endowed Lectureship in Cardiothoracic Surgery.

Curious George signs an autograph for 6-year-old Andrew, a patient at Upstate Golisano Children's Hospital. The popular kids' book character visited the hospital to celebrate Children's Book Week. The celebration featured a story hour and free children's books to patients. The Syracuse University Bookstore sponsored the event.
