Radiothon for Kids raises more than $110,000
SYRACUSE, N.Y.¿The Radiothon for Kids to support pediatric cancer care and research at Upstate Golisano Children's Hospital, raised more than $110,000 during its two-day run, Dec. 1 and 2. Last year's event raised $105,000.
"We're overwhelmed by the generosity of the community when it comes to supporting medical care for kids," said Toni Gary, director of community relations for the Upstate Golisano Children's Hospital. "Thank you to everyone who called, contributed, answered phones and assisted in making this radiothon a success."
The 2010 Radiothon for Kids was broadcast on NewsRadio 570 WSYR and Hot 107.9, and featured interviews with families and children who were receiving cancer treatments at Upstate. During the two-day event, the Upstate's second floor lobby was transformed into a radio studio.
Gary had special thanks for the radiothon sponsors Bristol Myers Squibb, Clear Channel, Foresters, Hershey's, Panera Bread and Tops Markets.
