Governor names Fayetteville resident to Upstate Medical University Council

SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Fayetteville resident Gwyn Mannion, a quality engineer with SRCTec, has been appointed by the governor's office to serve on the Upstate Medical University Council. Mannion's term on the council runs through June 30, 2014.

The Upstate Medical University Council is an advisory board to Upstate President David R. Smith, M.D. Council members are appointed by the governor and hail from all across Central New York.

"I am pleased that the governor has appointed Gwyn Mannion to the Upstate Council," Smith said. "Her professional and civic experience, and the leadership she has demonstrated in her work on many significant community projects, will serve Upstate well."

At SRCTec, Mannion has been involved in various developments, ranging from quality management to employee training.

Mannion is an enthusiastic community volunteer who has served on the boards of key community organizations and institutions, including the Museum of Science and Technology (MOST), East Area YMCA, the Downtown Syracuse YMCA and Immaculate Conception School, among others.

Mannion has been honored often for her community service. Her most recent accolades include the Samaritan Center Unsung Hero Award and Citizen of the Year by the Fayetteville Chamber of Commerce.
