Public tours of Upstate Golisano Children's Hospital are set for Sept. 12 and 13

SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Because of the widespread public interest in the Upstate Golisano Children's Hospital, especially from the nearly 8,000 children's hospital campaign donors, 1,000 employee donors, and nearly 400 major donors, events and tours have been scheduled over a four-day period, from Thursday, Sept. 10, through Sunday, Sept. 13, to allow the broadest possible community participation in this historic event.

A Community Dedication Ceremony will follow from 4 to 6 p.m., featuring presentations from local and state dignitaries.

A group of the largest donors to the campaign and campaign volunteers, who played leadership roles in making the Upstate Golisano Children's Hospital a reality, will be feted at a reception with the hospital's namesake, Thomas Golisano, on Friday evening, Sept. 11.

Special tours for all other major donors will be conducted Friday, Saturday and Sunday mornings (Sept. 12 and 13), with public open houses occurring Saturday, from 1 to 5 p.m., and Sunday, from noon until 5 p.m.

Over the course of the extended weekend, entertainment will be provided by the Open Hand Theater (puppet troupe), The Paul Robeson Performing Arts Company, Signature Syracuse Singers and the Syracuse Children's Chorus, among others.
