Radiothon raises more than $60,000 for pediatric care
SYRACUSE, N.Y. Central New Yorkers raised more than $60,000 during the Fourth Annual Clear Channel Radiothon, broadcast live from University Hospital Oct. 26 and 27 on Newsradio 570-WSYR AM and on WSYR-TV NewsChannel 9. Proceeds benefit pediatric services at University Hospital.
"We are fortunate for the generous support of Central New Yorkers and also for that of Clear Channel for providing us the opportunity to highlight the outstanding work of our pediatric staff," said Toni Gary, director of community relations for the upcoming Golisano Children's Hospital at University Hospital.
Approximately $54,000 was raised in phone donations during the two-day radiothon. "We also had volunteers serving as ?change bandits' who collected change from their friends, family members and co-workers as part of the radiothon. Approximately $7,000 was raised through this effort," Gary said.
The radiothon was co-sponsored by the Upstate Medical University Foundation.
